I strive to make therapy a safe space for my clients where they can show up as their authentic selves, regardless of what that might look like day to day.
As a child of immigrants, therapy was never something that was discussed or suggested as a tool that could aid in someone’s growth. The messages we receive from our families of origin about emotional openness and vulnerability can be limiting, and we can also acknowledge that our families were doing what they believed was best to keep us safe and secure. Entering therapy as a teenager was one of the most challenging experiences I’ve had and truly changed the way in which I view myself in the world. As someone who has had loved ones’ struggle with eating disorders, substance abuse, and other mental health concerns, now more than ever, I am noticing the demand for folks needing clinicians who “get it”, in whatever aspect that may be.
I strive to be a culturally competent and aware clinician and to approach folks from a trauma-informed lens. It would be unrealistic to assume that our past experiences have not shaped who we are currently, the good, the bad, and everything in between. My therapeutic approach is rooted in DBT, which balances change and acceptance as two opposing truths that can exist at the same time. I also draw on modalities such as CBT and ACT and tailor my approach to the needs of my individual clients. I specialize in eating disorders, trauma, substance use disorders and anxiety. Eating disorders are so much bigger and more powerful than we imagine, and it’s crucial that folks don’t feel like they have to navigate these complex issues on their own.
I strive to make therapy a safe space for my clients where they can show up as their authentic selves, regardless of what that might look like day to day. Navigating healing can be a difficult and confusing journey, and I am here to walk alongside you as you begin to take these first steps.
