For over 12 years, I have helped women break free from self defeating patterns and create lives they love. This looks like helping you change your relationship with alcohol, substances, food, and other addictive or unhealthy patterns. I specialize in working with “gray area” drinkers who are not sure if they want to or need to quit drinking completely.
I also have a special interest in helping individuals decide if they want to have children, as I sat on the fence for many years and have been dedicating the past few years to researching motherhood and this topic on my Substack, Fence Sitter. Finally, as a business owner myself, I also have a special affinity for working with other business owners or therapy group practice owners.
My clients are often high achievers and perfectionists, who come to me after finding themselves stuck and frustrated. Using a blend of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, parts work, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing, I will help you make changes and start taking action in alignment with your values. My job is not to decide what your life should look like, my job is to help you discover what beliefs, and patterns are holding you back from achieving your goals.
I am empathetic, yet direct, and my goal is to provide you with feedback and tools so you can move forward. Real change in therapy hinges on us creating an authentic relationship, so I use a collaborative and shame-free approach, along with a dose of humor (because we need to be able to laugh at ourselves sometimes!)
As someone who is in recovery from a substance use disorder and eating disorder myself, I know what it’s like to feel hopeless and lost.. to wonder, is my life ever going to get better? I know it can and I am here to help you get to the other side.
I currently accept a very limited number of virtual clients if you live in PA, VA, SC, or FL. Contact us for more information.
In addition to being the founder and executive director of Therapy for Women, you may know me as the creator of the popular instagram (and Tiktok) account @therapyforwomen. I am also the author of the book “Not Drinking Tonight” and its corresponding workbook. My podcast is called “Nuance Needed” and I co-host it with Sam Dalton. One of our other incredible therapists here. Learn more about me at www.amandaewhite.com
