Hi all! I’m Melanie (she/her/hers) an extroverted, neurodivergent, bisexual who loves to talk about sex, pop culture, and feelings. I’m a trauma-informed, queer-affirming therapist who specializes in helping individuals unravel sex, sexuality, gender, and kink-based shame through collaboration, curiosity, and compassion. As a person who has struggled with various mental health obstacles, including eating disorders, anxiety, depression, and OCD, I know how challenging it is to present as high-functioning on the outside when it feels like you’re unraveling on the inside.

Creating a safe space for my clients to share without judgment is the most important part of the therapeutic practice to me. I lean towards a collaborative and person-centered approach, and I am not afraid to challenge my clients when it is appropriate. I believe challenging the patriarchal scripts ingrained in our society is important for all people across the gender spectrum, especially when working with those who struggle with pleasure and desire. 

We all deserve to have a pleasurable life, whether it be having our sexual needs met or learning how to rest in a capitalist society that teaches us that rest means we are lazy. This life, this body that we reside in, we only get one go at it (maybe) and we were not put here to try to fit the mold of beauty and success that was scripted for us. I believe the relationship between therapist and client is unique as there is no other relationship like it in the world.

We can learn how to undo the toxic beliefs and patterns we've been conditioned to follow together.

The therapy I provide is rooted in trauma-informed care, is LGBTQIA+ affirming, welcoming to Poly/Kink/ENM, sex worker, and alternative lifestyles. Black Lives Matter.

Qualifications:

I love spending time outside with my husband and our very needy pug, Oscar Wallace. Sometimes it’s a slow morning on the patio with coffee, and other times it’s a tough workout followed by delicious food adventures. I like the unexpected variety a Saturday can hold, but it always ends in bed with snuggles and our shows.

ideal saturday:

I love most forms of movement but CrossFit and weightlifting have had a significant impact on my recovery and life.

favorite way to move your body:

Learning how to live an authentic, balanced life and stop people pleasing.

what are you most proud of:

Being someone that is safe and allows clients to show up exactly as they are in a world where they might not get that opportunity elsewhere.
